A decade of sewing centres: what changed for the women
For more than ten years the Foundation's six-month sewing courses have trained women in Bareilly's villages. In July 2024, 200 of them came back to tell us what it meant.

For more than a decade Khushhali Foundation has run a six-month sewing training programme for the daughters and daughters-in-law of villages across Bareilly district, so that they can stand on their own feet.
On 21 July 2024, 200 women chosen from among those trained over the years were invited to a gathering at Silver Law College. The purpose was to listen: to find out what the training had done for their confidence, their lives and their finances. Khushhali's workers sat with each of them.
The answers were clear. Learning to sew had brought many changes, from stitching clothes of their own choice to having some earnings in their own hands. What the women said that day is shaping how the Foundation takes the work forward.
