Holi, Independence Day and a Deepawali Milan: 2018 with the children
A year in the life of Indradhanush, from colours in February to a hall full of gifts in November.

On 28 February 2018 the Indradhanush children gathered in a hall in Bareilly for Holi — colours, sweets and games with the volunteers, a week before the festival itself. Through the year the younger children of the settlements also attended the Bal Sanskar Kendra that Gramya runs, where they learn songs, stories and good habits before they are old enough for school.
On 15 August 2018 the children celebrated Independence Day with the Foundation's volunteers. And on 4 November 2018, the Sunday before Diwali, came the Deepawali Milan: the children, their teachers, the donors who pay their fees and the Foundation's supporters together in one hall, with a gift for every child and the year's results read out to applause.
By then the project had grown to about 170 children, and the sweaters and gifts of the Deepawali Milan were, for many of them, the only Diwali presents they would receive.
